Becoming a Legal Counsel with Capita Legal: Construction

Reporting into the Senior Legal Counsel and working in a team of 5. The successful candidate will offer advice and assistance on a range of client and supplier contracts and projects on a pro-active basis and within the overall Capita governance framework at a Business, Divisional and a Group level as agreed and appropriate to skills and experience. Specifically focussing on construction matters: supporting the Real Estate and Infrastructure business and the property business within the Government Services division on a range of projects relating to construction, design and engineering. This role would ideally suit a 2-3 yrs pqe with non-contentious experience.
What you will do:
Providing accurate, timely and commercially orientated legal guidance
Progression and resolution of disputes with clients and suppliers
Reviewing, drafting and negotiating mutually beneficial relationships with clients and suppliers in line with the governance framework and Capita preferred positions
Liaison with stakeholders to provide proactive commercial legal support to help them achieve: (i) their business plans and (ii) the effective delivery and management of existing contracts
Making judicious decisions on, and appropriate recommendations to Senior Legal Counsel regarding, deviations from Capita preferred positions.
Your experience will include:
Sound legal, commercial, business and negotiating acumen. 2-3 yrs PQE within Construction and non-contentious experience
Good working knowledge of standard form construction contracts, in particular the NEC and JCT suite of contracts, experience working on construction matters.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Articulate and numerate drafting.
Proactive, solution-oriented attitude to resolving business issues.
