Find your future with us.We are looking for a Technical Author / Technical Librarian to join the BDUK Architecture team!The successful candidate will work with our internal and external customers to help define and govern the architectural assets, documentation, and acting as the Information Focal within the team.Following defined Boeing processes and collaborating closely with the customer and Boeing authorities, the candidate will be responsible for the development and governing of architectural assets and tools in support of transformation programmes.The role would be ideal for anyone wanting to enter the Technical Architecture capability in BDUK.ResponsibilitiesWorking collaboratively within a coordinated customer and supplier team to deliver jointly transformed Business and IT Services.Delivers technical visualisation of proposed applications for approval by customer and execution by system developers.Focal for Information Management within the Architecture team.Contributes to development of architectures:Contributes to the development and maintenance of business architectures, in particular, process architectures, business reference model, capability models.Contributes to the development and maintenance of information architectures, in particular taxonomies, high level information models.Contributes to the development and maintenance of technical architectures, in particular reference architectures and non-functional requirements including security considerations.Capturing the information vital for documents. This may be through research, discussion, interrogation of existing documentation or requesting others to generate contentGenerate high quality documents with regard to presentation, formatting, English language, grammarCommission, coordinate or prepare illustrations as required to support your workReview of documents generated by othersCollate and build the final master for delivery in physical or digital formsCaptures and develops architectures within a repository based architecture modelling tool.CompetenciesPrevious experience as a Technical Author or similar within the technology function, would be advantageous.Detailed understanding of standard office software e.g. MS Word, MS Excel and Adobe AcrobatExperience reading and extracting information from technical documentationExperience of working within document control, change control and checking/reviewing procedures.Determines and develops approaches to solutions within the constraints provided by a supervising architect (Chief Architect or Enterprise Architect).Receives general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.Have an eye for detailTypical Education and/or ExperienceEssentialEffective written and verbal communication skills.Detailed understanding of standard office software e.g. MS Word, MS Excel and Adobe AcrobatHave a background in a Technology Function / Infrastructure / Applications / Service Desk / Support.Desirable Experience of defence, blue light and/or government organisationsExperience of the following notation:Archimate 2 or 3 notationTOGAF 9 or 10Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN)Experience in the use of repository based Enterprise Architecture modelling tools (e.g., Sparx EA, Mega, iServer, System Architect).Knowledge of infrastructure and application aspects of an enterprise-scale delivery or operationKnowledge of Lean Thinking, Theory of Constraints, six sigma or similar business improvement techniquesExperience of working within a multinational matrix management environment / structure and a large-scale, complex international organization, but also within small teamsOther job related informationThis posting is eligible for participation in the Employee Referral Programme.
