Software Engineer Contract

Primary Purpose of the Role:

Please note this role is initially remote working with the view to work onsite in Crawley after COVID lockdown.

Candidates must be eligible for security clearance

To undertake software development tasks associated with the Shipshape suite of applications. Primarily this will be to migrate the applications to the Windows 7 platform and integrate new releases for incorporated COTS components.

The Software Engineer is expected to support the Programme Manager and Technical Lead in the proposal and development of software modifications in line with the agreed customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Responsible for delivery of agreed tasks to executable software components
• Produce high quality design specifications for the software under change
• Reporting of Engineering progress to the Shipshape Engineering Team Lead

Essential

• Software development using the C++language gained in the Visual Studio (2015 preferred) environment
• Software development using the Rhapsody UML (8.1.5 preferred) design tool
• Experience of developing drivers for interfacing to equipment, g. HF Radio, Modem
• Knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP, COM
• Microsoft Office Tools

Desirable

• Experience of the GIT configuration management tool
• Experienced in working within an Agile team using the Scrum methodology and JIRA
