bp is hiring two Senior E&S Advisors in the North Sea Region, the Environmental and Social Team are in action on delivery of the sustainability frame, working on emissions reduction planning, methane measurement using drones and biodiversity improvement projects amongst others. There are also significant renewable energy, CCUS and hydrogen projects on the horizon. These roles will play a key role in operationalising the sustainability frame within the North Sea region.
Job AdvertOne role will manage regulatory compliance and environmental requirements for offshore operations. The successful candidate will have day to day responsibility for a Production Delivery Unit (two producing assets) and will be the primary asset contact for operationalisation of the sustainability frame.

One role will be responsible for strengthening systems used to manage regulatory compliance, particularly around compliance with the UK Emissions Trading Scheme, but also HSSE regulatory compliance more broadly. BP are on an exciting journey to automate and digitize regulatory compliance processes and this role will be instrumental in delivery of these new systems that will be a critical foundation in delivery of the sustainability frame.

  • Lead on the Sustainability and Carbon agenda.
  • Support delivery of sustainable emission reductions identified in the Carbon Plan in support of BP’s net zero ambition.
  • Manage regulatory compliance requirements primarily related to production, but also potentially exploration, drilling, interventions and decommissioning activities.
  • Manage regulatory inspections and relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • Coach and advise Leadership on regulatory and BP environmental requirements. Proactively drive environmental performance through operational guidance and training.
  • Lead site and system self-verification activities and environmental risk assessments as required.
  • Conduct investigations into environmental or requlatory compliance incidents as required and ensure actions to prevent re-occurrence are embedded.
Essential Education

Bachelor of Science or equivalent in engineering, geosciences, environmental or related degree. IEMA or equivalent chartership preferred

Essential Experience
  • 8+ years of environmental experience in the Upstream Oil and Gas industry.
  • Broad understanding and experience of the UK regulatory regime and detailed knowledge of systems and reporting requirements. Particular experience with the compliance requirements of the Emissions Trading Scheme will be essential for one of the roles.
  • Technical knowledge of offshore production operations.
  • Track record of influencing teams and building and maintaining productive internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in implementing environmental performance improvement; willingness to challenge status quo where appropriate to make change happen.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work on a continual basis and work in an agile manner.
