Operations and Maintenance Manager

Ready for a new challenge? Ready to get your teeth into something! Well, in this role you’ll certainly get that, as you work across a portfolio of hydro power stations. These sites are of historical significance but are also utilised in innovative and modern ways. You’ll be central to their current and future success as they continue to deliver renewable power to the grid. So, what will you be doing? First of all, if you want variety then this role has it. You’ll manage and take responsibility for the safety, efficiency, maintenance and commercial success of the sites. You’ll also be central to delivering the business plan and manage our external relations for them too. Meaning one day you could be supporting critical maintenance work and the following you’ll be working with our external partners such as the regulators or local communities.This is a true hybrid role, you'll be a full operations manager and then also taking on the Maintenance Manager Responsibility, especially during the summer when we are all in full swing with Maintenance Programmes This is a permanent, full time role based at our Galloway Site. It is Monday - Friday however you will need to be flexible as when we have big weather fronts coming in, that is something as the Operations and Maintenance Manager you will be overseeing You’ll work to maximise availability and efficiency of the portfolio and lead in delivering large scale maintenance and operational activities. Importantly, you’ll ensure that they meet all regulatory and statutory requirements, and you’ll champion health and safety across your teams. In summary, you’ll be the focal point for all matters relating to the portfolio. So, what is it we are looking for? On the technical side, you’ll need practical engineering experience, ideally within the power industry or similar heavy/process industry. This that could be in any discipline though. Alongside the technical know-how, you’ll need commercial and business acumen. You’ll be comfortable with things like contract management and negotiation, managing a budget and business change. You’ll have your own team as well, with 5 direct and 25 indirect reports, so you’ll be an accomplished leader with the ability to motivate your team to get the best out of them and the sites.
