Asylum and Human Rights Operations is an important business area within the Home Office and plays a vital role in supporting the economy and cultural life of the UK. Our objectives include preventing terrorism and extremism, cutting crime, protecting the vulnerable, reducing immigration, and preventing abuse.
The National Asylum Intake Unit is made up of over 800 officers, and it registers around 70 per cent of asylum claims nationally, with the Intake Response Team sitting within this unit. This is a mobile unit that can be deployed to any National Asylum Intake Unit location or Home Office approved site at short notice, for extended periods. If appointed, you will have a base location, but you’ll be within a mobile post and should therefore expect regular travel, whilst working across a number of locations. This may result in overnight stays for several nights to provide a continued response, particularly during seasonal surges.
Teams are comprised of up to 10 Immigration Officers and a Chief Immigration Officer, who will lead day to day operations. You will be working alongside and deployed with these other officers, so strong team working skills are key. Travel and Subsistence expenses would be paid in line with policy. Full training will be provided as part of your role.

· Ability to make effective and difficult decisions under pressure
· Confidently work with a range of internal and external partners to achieve a shared goal
· Be prepared to attend Personal Safety Training to the required level
· Hold a full manual or automatic UK driving licence

An Annualised hours Allowance, currently averaging 48% of salary, is paid in addition to the monthly salary to compensate for out of office hours working and flexibility. The Intake Response Team is a 365-day operation that operates shifts including earlies, lates, nights, as well as weekend and public holiday working.
