Rated as 'outstanding' by the CQC, the London Bridge Hospital campus in South East London encompasses an outpatients and diagnostic centre in The Shard; the large world-class hospital based at the Tooley Street site; Private Care at Guys, which is on the top four floors of Guys Hospital Cancer Centre; and outpatient and diagnostic centres across the City, Canary Wharf and Kent.

Job Description


As a Business Office Assistant, you will provide a comprehensive range of administrative services to patients, consultants and other third parties that will assist in promoting the successful management of all aspects needed to facilitate a seamless and positive patient journey.


Salary: £21,000 - £24,913


Hours: 37.5hrs per week (Shift pattern which ranges from 7.30am – 22.00pm Monday – Friday with the potential for Saturday shifts)




Duties & Responsibilities


  • Responsible for ensuring that all patients meet the HCA criteria to enable successful and full financial settlement relating to all patient visits

  • Formally register, pre –admit and admit all patients and guarantee 100% accuracy when requesting and transferring information to HCA database

  • Manage and maintain the patients record for the duration of their visit

  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to all telephone, written and face to face queries

  • Ensure that all accounts are finalised promptly and further funds requested as a matter of urgency

  • Manage cash transactions and the provision of appropriate receipts

  • Facilitate the successful reimbursement of professional fees at the request of consultant

  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly reconciled on a daily basis



Skills & Experience


  • Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service skills, dealing face to face and over the phone with customers

  • Experience working in healthcare in an administration role

  • Previous experience gained within a similar role

  • Good working knowledge of the MS Office suite

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
